About
In her works, there is a repetition of everyday motifs, elements, and symbols made up of objects that she collects. She then sorts, ties, embroiders, and reassembles them into new artworks. Shirazi takes rituals and uses them to establish a narrative that is pivotal in her life as a woman - mother - artist. She is daring, reveals emotions from the depths of her soul, and touches the happy and painful places.
Oranit Shirazi combines coarse materials, metals, iron and wood, and delicate materials such as embroidery threads and film negatives, creating a unique language with them. Her background in jewelry and photography, along with her many years as a painter and sculptor, is reflected in mix-media works that connect objects from home, to the junk she finds on her path. Text is crucial to her practice, she plays with the Hebrew language which is woven into the works.
